SOCHI, 17 October (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes taking part in the second European Games will receive a book of good wishes from delegates of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in 2019, BelTA learned from Victoria Mennanova, head of the Information Department, spokesperson for Belarus’ National Olympic Committee (NOC).
At the WFYS, great attention is devoted to the European Games to be hosted by Minsk in 2019. Anyone can write a wish for the Belarusian team in a special book. “We ask our honored guests to write wishes in the book which we will hand over to our athletes in 2019. The book will become a unique exhibit of the NOC museum in Belarus,” Victoria Mennanova noted.
Volunteers offer guests to do jigsaw puzzles illustrating sports facilities that will host the large-scale sports forum. Young people who put them together are awarded souvenirs and promotional products with the logo and slogan of the European Games. “We hope that every country participating in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students will visit the second European Games in Belarus. We are open and friendly. We invite everyone to attend this forum,” the NOC spokesperson said.
The Belarusian stand at the WFYS is highly popular. It gives young people an opportunity to try on an ice hockey uniform, hold a hockey stick and try to score a goal. The festival’s participants are also offered to left a kettlebell (16, 24, and 32kg). The results of all participants will be recorded throughout the festival and summed up. The international record of the festival will be announced at the end of the event.
The exhibition showcases solutions by young Belarusian innovators participating in the 100 Ideas for Belarus project and illustrates the work of pioneers, student teams, and volunteers. The guests can learn more about Belarusian traditions, take a photo in a traditional Belarusian nobleman’s costume and in front of Belarus’ flag and the country’s achievements with the hashtag #chooseBelarus.
The 2017 World Festival of Youth and Students is due to run through 22 October. It is expected to become the largest event in the area of international youth interaction and gather over 20,000 people from most countries. A daisy with petals of different colors has been chosen as the festival’s symbol. It represents the continuity of traditions, connections that span generations, peace and unity of the entire international community. Colored pixels play a major part as a token of unity of all the young people in the world in the age of information technologies. The festival is meant to consolidate young people of the world, encourage interethnic and intercultural cooperation.
