WHO highly appreciates partnership with Belarus

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich received the copy of the credentials from WHO Representative in Representative in the Republic of Belarus Sergey Diorditsa in Minsk on 14 September 2022, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed the state and prospects for the development of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the World Health Organization.

“Yuri Ambrazevich noted that the Belarusian government pays special attention to cooperation with the WHO in order to harness the organization’s potential to further improve the Belarusian model of public healthcare using the best international practices,” the ministry said.

The deputy minister of foreign affairs also hailed the positive experience of cooperation between Belarus and the WHO in disseminating advanced Belarusian practices in certain areas of medicine among foreign partner countries, in particular the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, combating HIV/AIDS, reducing child mortality and improving maternal health. It was stressed that this area of cooperation contributes to the expansion of both the volume and geography of the export of Belarusian medical services.

The WHO Representative highly appreciated the active and meaningful partnership between the Belarusian government and the WHO, highlighting the international trust in the Republic of Belarus as the country has been elected to the Executive Board of the World Health Organization for 2021-2024.
