Vice premier: Direct flights may help Minsk, Bishkek expand farm sales

Vice premier: Direct flights may help Minsk, Bishkek expand farm sales

MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) - Belarus is interested in regular flights between Minsk and Bishkek, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said as he met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev on 23 August, BelTA has learned.

“We have an interest in Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural products, especially those that cannot be grown in Belarus due to climatic conditions,” Anatoly Sivak said. “Today we are working to replace raw material imports from unfriendly countries and are carefully studying the possibilities of Kyrgyz agricultural producers. The main problem today is the delivery of perishable products. One of the ways to address this problem is to launch direct air service between our countries.”

According to him, regular flights between Bishkek and Minsk would also increase the attractiveness of Kyrgyzstan for Belarusian tourists and stimulate bilateral cooperation in education and healthcare. “This is a topic that requires thorough discussion. I hope we will pay serious attention to it during the meeting of the intergovernmental Belarusian-Kyrgyz commission,” the deputy prime minister said.

“I believe that our common task will be to coordinate the work on the implementation of previously reached agreements and monitor the implementation of new projects. For my part, I would like to assure you that I am always ready to discuss and solve all problematic issues, to provide comprehensive support to all projects of mutual interest. I would like to have a detailed exchange of views on these issues and seek your support in their implementation,” Anatoly Sivak added.
