MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) - Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev may pay an official visit to Belarus in 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nasirjan Yusupov told reporters on 29 November, BelTA informs.
“The schedule of our president is likely to be determined in January. The meeting will take place next year. This will be the first official visit of our head of state to Belarus. Our preparations are in full swing right now. The Belarusian side is preparing as well. We need to address many issues,” the ambassador said.
The diplomat said the meeting with the head of state focused on the implementation of the Belarus-Uzbekistan cooperation roadmap. He remarked that there are positive results. In particular, the trade turnover has increased significantly, cooperation in other fields is increasingly vibrant. For example, the number of Uzbek students in Belarusian universities is on the rise.
“We also discussed other issues. The meeting took place in a very friendly and trustworthy atmosphere. We discussed our avenues of work. I will inform our senior officials about the results of this meeting. The Uzbekistani side is also working on these issues. I can say that we have synchronized watches,” Nasirjan Yusupov said.
