MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka Meegahalande Durage Lamawansa presented the copies of credentials to Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik on 14 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Sergei Aleinik welcomed the Sri Lankan diplomat in Belarus and expressed hope for fruitful joint work in strengthening Belarus-Sri Lanka relations.
The parties discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between Belarus and Sri Lanka, interaction between the two states in international organizations.
The parties also focused on intensification of the existing bilateral mechanisms of cooperation, including the joint Belarus-Sri Lanka commission on trade and economic cooperation, and also political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.
