Speaker: National security tops the agenda of Parliament’s new session

MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) - The issues of national security occupy the central place in the agenda of the ongoing session, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at the opening of the tenth session of the House of Representatives of the seventh convocation on 19 September, BelTA has learned.

“The central place in the agenda of the session is given to the issues of national security. Maintaining civil peace, fulfillment of social obligations of the state and welfare of citizens largely depend on the pace of economic growth,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

The elaborate decisions at the level of the head of state, the government, and the parliament have helped ensure economic development in the country, the chairman of the House of Representatives said. “In January-August 2023, GDP increased by 3.1%. The export of goods and services went up by 6.4%. Household incomes grew 4.5% in the first seven months of the year. Inflation in Belarus remains at 2.9%,” he added.

“The draft law on the national budget for 2024 and the amendments to the Tax Code should be approached with the further strengthening of the Belarusian economy in mind,” the speaker emphasized.
