Some 246,500t of corn kernels threshed in Belarus

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – Some 246,500 tonnes of corn kernels have been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of 26 September, some 7,665,200 tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed was cropped in Belarus. This included 6,625,800 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and 1,039,400 tonnes of rapeseed.

Harvesting of corn kernels is underway in all the oblasts of the country, with 31,900 hectares of land already cleared. Some 246,500 tonnes of corn kernels were threshed, with the yields averaging 77.2 centners per hectare.

Some 12,740,600 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.

In addition to that, 45,400 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 14.6 centners per hectare) and 18,800 tonnes of millet (yields reach 19.3 centners per hectare) were threshed.

The flax straw harvest exceeded 114,100 tonnes.

Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 86.5% of the area.

Belarusian agricultural workers harvested some 389,400 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 350.8 centners per hectare.

Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 1,117,700 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields standing at 449.7 centners per hectare.
