Resumption of direct flights between Minsk, Russian Mineralnye Vody under consideration

Resumption of direct flights between Minsk, Russian Mineralnye Vody under consideration

MINSK, 8 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Stavropol Territory are discussing the possibility of resuming direct flights between Minsk and Mineralnye Vody. The matter was discussed at a meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Stavropol Territory Governor Vladimir Vladimirov, BelTA has learned.

The president suggested thinking about ways to increase the mutual tourist traffic and invigorate direct contacts between sanatoriums and resorts, the relevant administration bodies and organizations. “In my opinion, it makes sense to restore direct flights between Minsk and Mineralnye Vody as from May 2024 with your support if you consider it necessary. Vacationers and tourists will be grateful for it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“Everyone knows your famous resorts with mineral waters: Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Yessentuki that are hugely popular, including among Belarusians. We’ve also known and remembered them since Soviet times. We are also ready to make a contribution to the development of the industry,” the head of state remarked.

After the meeting the Stavropol Territory governor made a few comments about this topic: “We can only approve of the idea. We are now in negotiations. We’ve talked about next May. The air carrier Azimuth is based in the Mineralnye Vody airport and we will try to expedite the process. This matter will definitely be part of the protocol [of agreements and instructions resulting from the delegation’s visit] and on the radar of the head of state. Moreover, Vladimir Putin, our head of state very strongly supports these ties with the friendly country.”
