MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Russian and Belarusian regions are making substantial contribution to the development of cooperation between the two countries, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko said at the meeting with Belarusian and Russian governors in Minsk on 8 June, BelTA has learned.
“The regions of Russia and Belarus are making great contribution to our cooperation. It is very useful and substantive. More than ten agreements have been prepared for this forum (3rd Forum of Regions - BelTA). A part of them was signed yesterday. The rest will be signed today,” said Valentina Matviyenko.
The meeting is also attended by Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Mikhail Myasnikovich.
The Speaker of the Council of the Republic noted that the meeting with governors is held with a view to addressing the most important issues. “We expect a straight talk on further ways of our development, cooperation. If there are any proposals, we are open to them,” he said. The Speaker also thanked Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov for his participation in the meeting with governors.
For his part, Andrei Kobyakov noted: “We have met with almost all the governors. All our agreements are in force. If there are any issues, we are ready to discuss them.”
