MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – The program for Belarus’ presidency of the Central European Initiative (CEI) was discussed at a meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Italy Alexander Guryanov and CEI Secretary General Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The parties discussed the draft program for Belarus’ upcoming presidency of the Central European Initiative in 2017. They considered issues related to the general operation of the organization and stressed the need to adapt the CEI to the modern times. Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri believes that Belarus’ presidency will play a very important role in this,” the press service said.
The CEI Secretary General also confirmed his interest in attending the international conference “Laying down the foundation in the UNECE region for economic integration and sustainable development towards 2030” to be held in Minsk in October 2016, and also in Consultations on Belarus’ Presidency of the CEI.
