Prime minister: Belarus-Iran relations are on the rise

MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) – Belarus-Iran relations are on the rise right now. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement as he met with First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Mokhber, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko said: “We appreciate your finding the time to respond to our invitation and visit our country in order to discuss in detail the entire complex of Belarusian-Iranian relations. This year marks 30 years since diplomatic relations were established between our countries. All these years were filled with invariably developing friendship, cooperation as well as economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the nations.”

In his words, intensive exchange of visits is in progress at present. “I always recall with warmth our meeting in Tehran. The productive negotiations we held launched the exchange of delegations at all levels and the conclusion of profitable commercial contracts and agreements,” the head of government stressed.

Roman Golovchenko remarked that the Belarus president’s visit to Iran in March 2023 marked an important stage in building Belarus-Iran strategic partnership. “We precisely fulfill provisions of the roadmap on all-round cooperation between the countries in 2023-2026 that was signed during that visit,” the prime minister added.

“We expect your visit to add even greater dynamics to interaction on projects in trade and economy, manufacturing cooperation, investment cooperation, petrochemical industry, pharmaceutics, agriculture, and transport. Your visit will also contribute to further enhancement of friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development of our countries in the interests of the peoples of Belarus and Iran,” Roman Golovchenko stated.

Mohammad Mokhber was grateful for the invitation to visit Belarus. “I offer my gratitude to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko for the warm welcome. Iran’s strategy is aimed at advancing economic and political relations with your country. We have always seen a positive attitude towards us. But, regretfully, our economic relations do not match the level of political relations. The Belarus president’s visit to Iran was a turning point in our relations. Our two nations expect the diplomatic relations to produce good results for both countries,” the first vice president of Iran said.
