Pinevich outlines cooperation prospects in healthcare with Equatorial Guinea

MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) – Equatorial Guinea is interested in Belarus’ expertise and knowledge in such areas as medical education, production of medicines, development of medical science, Belarus’ Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told reporters, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about possible areas of cooperation, Dmitry Pinevich said that Equatorial Guinea is interested in sending its citizens to study in Belarus. Belarus would also benefit from that, as it seeks to bring more foreign students to study at local medical colleges.

“There is a great demand for graduate and post-graduate education in Equatorial Guinea,” the minister said.

According to him, Equatorial Guinea would also like to exchange best practices, including high technologies.

“We should explore the possibilities of supplying medicines. We could as well consider their production and localization. The same pertains to medical products and medical equipment. This is of great interest to them,” Dmitry Pinevich emphasized.

Moreover, there are three unfinished medical centers in Equatorial Guinea and the country is determined to finish the construction works. “We suggested considering the introduction of mobile medicine, which will help expand access to medical services, including for people living in remote areas. Although Equatorial Guinea is much smaller than Belarus, I think, they are also facing this problem. Therefore, today we will show our technologies in mobile medicine,” he added.

Moreover, the foreign delegation raised the topic of interaction in medical science.

Dmitry Pinevich noted that Equatorial Guinea is a small but rapidly developing country. “Today we will have a specific and hopefully constructive and meaningful discussion on all existing problems as well as issues that may arise,” he concluded.
