Parliament speaker: Belarus seeks to develop friendly relations with Latin American countries

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - Belarusian MPs stand for the development of friendly relations with Latin American countries, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Russian Federation and concurrently the Republic of Belarus Eduardo Villegas Mejias in Minsk on 15 June, BelTA has learned.

"I would like to take this opportunity and congratulate you on the official start of the diplomatic mission in our country. I am convinced that your work in our country will open up new opportunities for cooperation in various areas," Vladimir Andreichenko said.

According to him, one of the main areas of work of the parliament is to develop inter-parliamentary relations. "Belarusian MPs have always advocated the development of friendly and mutually beneficial relations with Latin American countries, including Mexico as one of the largest countries in the region. The Parliament of the Republic of Belarus has observer status in Parlatino. Therefore, we regularly take part in its work," the speaker said.  “I would like to take this opportunity to convey my warmest wishes to President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Mexican Congress, Mr. Santiago Creel Miranda. In November last year, we extended him an invitation to pay an official visit to the Republic of Belarus. We hope that the visit of a Mexican parliamentary delegation to Belarus will take place during your term."
