MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) - Political cooperation between Belarus and China fully meets the long-term strategic interests of the two states, director of the Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University Anatoly Tozik said as he spoke at the international conference "Three decades of the Belarusian-Chinese relations and a community of common destiny for all mankind". The event was held to mark the 30thanniversary of the Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations in Minsk on 12 January, BelTA has learned.

"There have been no issues, even small ones, in the political cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China, and, let me express my conviction, there never will be. This cooperation cannot and should not depend on any opportunistic trends, because it fully meets both the long-term strategic interests of our states and the aspirations of our peoples," Anatoly Tozik emphasized.

He singled our several things characteristic of the political cooperation between the two states over the past 30 years. This cooperation has been developing straitly yet quite dynamically, consistently, systemically, and has never been interrupted," he continued. “The two countries have exchanged regular visits at the highest and high levels and signed documents. Formalizing every new level in the bilateral political cooperation, the heads of state have signed six joint declarations, Joint Statement and the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation over the past three decades.”

"In the dialectical relationship of political, economic, scientific and humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and China, it is the political cooperation that drives the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation. It is the politics that largely determines the dynamics, areas and volume of cooperation in economy and other areas,” Anatoly Tozik noted.

Every new level of political relations and political mutual trust has stimulated contacts in other areas, for example, science, security, defense and humanitarian affairs.

"The political cooperation and mutual trust that have developed over 30 years provides tremendous opportunities for a much broader and deeper bilateral Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in all areas without exception. Both sides must seize those opportunities. Today it is more important than ever," Anatoly Tozik believes.
