No political problems with mutual recognition of Belarusian, Russian COVID-19 certificates

MOSCOW, 13 December (BelTA) – There are no political problems with recognizing COVID-19 certificates in Belarus-Russia relations, the technical issue will be resolved soon. Belarusian Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich made the relevant statement during a joint collegium of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry and the Russian one in Moscow on 13 December, BelTA has learned.

The official said: “No doubt, it is a technical component but it is tied to different information platforms and has its own complications. But I think that the matter has been reconciled politically. We have to take care of the technical side of things soon.”

Dmitry Pinevich noted that the matter of COVID-19 certificate recognition is also important for keeping the Belarusian-Russian border open. He stated that an overwhelming majority of Belarus citizens had been vaccinated against COVID-19 using a Russian vaccine.

Dmitry Pinevich reminded that the Sputnik V vaccine is made in Belarus using a full production cycle. He added that the matter of mutual recognition of vaccination certificates is important not only for the free movement of citizens but for the development of Belarus-Russia trade and efforts to increase trade turnover.

The joint collegium took place in Moscow on 13 December. Russian Healthcare Minister Mikhail Murashko and his Belarusian counterpart Dmitry Pinevich, State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Dmitry Mezentsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko took part in it. The main topic on the agenda is medical aid quality control system improvement.
