MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Chairman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich put forward a number of initiatives aimed at promoting regional development as he took part in the joint session of the Council on Local Self-Government Cooperation at the Council of the Republic and the Council of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of Belarus on 27 February, BelTA has learned.
“I would like to mention Decree No.7 again and the need to flesh it out with specific measures, like greater accountability for officials and greater support for manufacturers. What I suggest is attracting investors by offering them, among other things, the guarantees of the president,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
In his view, the majority of enterprises reporting to the central government should be transferred into municipal ownership and, if needed, reformed.
Other topical issues include allocation of land plots for housing construction, loans for young families with children and allocation of land to build manufacturing facilities and facilities providing services.
Mikhail Myasnikovich expressed concern over the low uptake of innovative technology by companies of the real economic sector. Most of innovative products offered by domestic manufacturers are in fact replication of other domestic or foreign products.
