Mongolia shows interest in cooperation with Belarus in science

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) - Mongolia is interested in cooperation with Belarus in science, chief scientific secretary of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences Avid Budeebazar told the media on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences, BelTA has learned.

"We want to work together with Belarusian scientists. We know that mechanical engineering and agriculture are very well developed in Belarus. I think we can work together in these areas. We don't have many joint projects yet, but I think we can find more common ground. There are projects in the field of physics, deriving substances from plants for the production of medicines. While we are jointly developing these areas, I think we will find others," Avid Budeebazar noted.

The meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the founding of the association. It brought together representatives of the national academies of sciences of Belarus, Russia, three provinces of China, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cuba, Vietnam, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, and others. The IAAS Council comprises the heads of leading research centers, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, Kurchatov Institute, Russian Academy of Education.

The conference discusses the IAAS activities, the performance of scientific councils and setting up new ones, the admission of the new member to the IAAS and other important topics.

The International Association of Academies of Sciences includes the academies of sciences of the CIS countries and other states, universities, large scientific centers. Since 2017, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has acted as the base academy of sciences in terms of IAAS organizational and methodological support. Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Academician Vladimir Gusakov has been the head of the IAAS. The IAAS supreme governing body is the IAAS Council. The International Association of Academies of Sciences has 26 scientific councils in major scientific areas, like biology, virology, nanotechnology, geology, history, CIS studies, China studies and others.
