MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – Minsk will play host to the tenth meeting of the Coordinating Council for Emergency Situations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states on 17 October, BelTA learned from the Emergencies Ministry.
“The meeting will discuss the organization of joint special tactical exercises, academic and methodological sessions, will explore the prospects for further cooperation with international organizations in providing assistance to victims in emergency situations. The meeting participants will review the development of the draft regulation on the collective response to large-scale emergencies in the CSTO member states, and other issues,” the ministry informed.
The interaction of the CSTO member states in emergency management is one of the activities of the organization. Cooperation is coordinated by the Coordinating Council on Emergency Situations which was set up by decision of the Collective Security Council in October 2007. “The council has been continuously working to improve the system of collective response to emergencies. The member states also cooperate in training and advanced training of specialists. They also organize joint exercises and competitions, develop a uniform scientific policy and exchange information,” the ministry said.
