Minsk gears up to host visiting meeting of CSTO PA Council

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Minsk will play host to a visiting meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization on 17-18 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.

The meeting is set to consider the status of the decisions of the November (2022) session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the activities of the state bodies of Belarus to ensure the stability of the socio-political and military situation, countering security challenges and threats in the context of the priorities of the CSTO chairmanship in 2023 and draft statements of the CSTO PA Council on the prevention of an arms race in space and on countering drug abuse among children and young people and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The meeting also plans to consider granting the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia the status of a partner of the CSTO PA, on the address of the CSTO PA to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on granting the CSTO PA the status of a permanent observer at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The amendments to the program of activities of the CSTO PA for the approximation and harmonization of the national legislation of the CSTO member states for 2021-2025 and many others will be on the agenda of th emeeting.
