MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – There are no objective reasons for not finding mutually acceptable solutions in the visa facilitation talks with the European Union, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said during the Consular Day on its Facebook page, BelTA has learned.
“In our view, there are no objective reasons preventing us from reaching mutually acceptable solutions. The work is in progress. However, this is not a one-way process. The will of both sides is needed to make progress. Our position is obvious. It was manifested by our unilateral decision to introduce the five-day visa-waiver program for EU nationals,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The ministry did not go into detail about the talks. However, it noted that European partners put forward a number of conditions that are not so comfortable for Belarusian nationals. “Among these conditions is a requirement to submit visa applications exclusively to visa application centers. We are working with our EU partners to address this and other issues,” the ministry noted.
