MOSCOW, 30 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko offered the Belarusian and Russian scientists to intensify the joint training of their younger colleagues as he attended the plenary session at the fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.
The head of state stressed that the human resources of science remain the key factor in many fields. Belarus has managed to preserve and multiply them. “We need to pay attention to the cooperation in training young scientists. I offer the Belarusian and Russian scientific communities to step up the efforts in this field. Our young scientists should be given a free hand to maintain close contacts with their colleagues,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.
The president also believes that scientific schools should boost cooperation in every promising field and cited the collaboration of Belarusian State University and Moscow State University as an example.
The Belarusian and Russian academies of sciences are traditionally viewed as the main drivers of Belarus-Russia joint R&D, Alexander Lukashenko remarked. Seven joint Belarusian-Russian centers and laboratories have been set up and successfully put into operation at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Another three are under development at Kurchatov Institute in Moscow, Institute of Gene Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Kuzbass State Technical University.
