MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to the people of the Republic of Finland as the country celebrates Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Unfortunately, today the instability and contradictions in our common space negatively affect the sustainable development of our countries and prevent us from benefiting from our partnerships. For many decades your politicians have been making a significant contribution to the resolution of very complex conflicts for the sake of the peaceful coexistence of peoples. Thus, it was in Finland that the Helsinki Final Act was signed to conclude the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe. Likewise, for many years Belarus has been promoting the initiative to embark on a broad multilateral dialogue to strengthen confidence-building measures, security and interaction in the region,” the message reads.

Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that it is not in the interests of Belarusians and Finns to have more barriers between the two states. “It is necessary to restore the economic and humanitarian ties that we had and build new ones,” the head of state emphasized.

The president wished the people of Finland peace, success and prosperity.
