ASHGABAT, 12 December (BelTA) – The rigorous imposing of development models is no better than religious fanaticism, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he spoke at the international conference “Neutrality Policy: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development” in Ashgabat on 12 December, BelTA learned.
“International cooperation can be efficient and mutually beneficial only if it relies on mutual respect. And the modern world catastrophically lacks this. Often there is no the elementary readiness to respect the choice of others today,” the Belarusian head of state said.
“And the rigor which they are trying to impose allegedly universal development models from without is no better than religious fanaticism,” the Belarusian leader stressed. He added that the historical and cultural peculiarities of particular states and regions in general are absolutely neglected.
“We should understand that all of us are, figuratively speaking, in the same boat. The attempts of powers that be to ensure their own wellbeing at the expense of other countries and nations are a dead end from where it is difficult to find a way out,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
Everything depends on everyone today. If a conflict emerges in one part of the world, it will immediately backfire on the other part, the President noted.
