MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Lending for subsidized housing construction in Belarus will be increased as the economy grows, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the members of the public, representatives of the Belarusian and foreign mass media on 3 February, BelTA has learned.
“We still have loans for subsidized housing construction. It is just that we now have less money. To give a preferential loan, we need to get money from somewhere. Meanwhile, this is money of our enterprises, and your money. Preferential housing loans are still issued, but the amount has been reduced. Once we get wealthier, more of such loans will be granted,” Alexander Lukashenko noted.
The head of state said that housing construction is viewed as a driver of economic growth in Belarus. “When a person builds a home, he needs many things to fit it out, and he starts buying these things promoting the development of enterprises. We look at housing construction from this standpoint,” the Belarusian leader said.
