Lukashenko, Dodon to meet in Vitebsk to discuss ways to step up Belarus-Moldova cooperation

MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Moldova President Igor Dodon will meet in Vitebsk on 13 July to discuss various aspects of the Belarusian-Moldovan cooperation, BelTA has learned.

The agenda for the meeting includes matters related to the cooperation in trade, economy, politics, and social sector. The leaders will also discuss interaction in integration associations.

President Dodon is in Belarus on a working visit from 12 to 14 July. Apart from the talks with the Belarusian head of state, the program of the working visit includes visits to large Belarusian industrial and agricultural enterprises, meetings with businessmen, members of the Moldovan community in Belarus, and visits to social and cultural sites.

At the meeting with representatives of the Belarusian business community on 12 July, Igor Dodon said that Moldova intends to ramp trade with Belarus up to $400 million, including by implementing and developing joint projects. He emphasized that Moldova can be used as a bridgehead for further promotion of jointly manufactured goods to other countries of the region.

Alexander Lukashenko is scheduled to attend the opening of the 26th international arts festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk on 13 July. The Belarusian head of state will give a speech and present the special award “Through Art to Peace and Understanding.”

The opening ceremony will also be attended by many foreign guests, Moldova President Igor Dodon among them.
