MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) – The cooperation with China does not carry a threat to Belarus’ sovereignty, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with representatives of Ukrainian mass media on 26 September, BelTA has learned.
The president emphasized that he does not view the cooperation with China as a threat to Belarus’ sovereignty. At the same time, he remarked that there is a certain border that the sides will not cross in the Belarusian-Chinese partnership, just like in any interstate relations.
“I don’t have any concerns regarding China. They say China carries out market expansion. But who does not do it? All countries do. Take a look at the European Union: they supported Baltic and other countries because they, first of all, saw the market. And they allocated $2-3 billion worth of support from the budget,” the president said. “This is, as they say today, business, a deal.”
