Lukashenko confirms Prigozhin’s arrival in Belarus

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – The head of the Russian private military company Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin is in Belarus. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statements during the ceremony held on 27 June to present shoulder boards to high-ranking officers as he talked about details of his negotiations with the head of the Russian private military company Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin on 24 June, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “The security guarantees that he [President of Russia Vladimir Putin] promised yesterday have been provided. I see that Prigozhin already flies aboard this aircraft. Yes, indeed, he is in Belarus today. As I’ve promised, if you want to spend some time in our country and the rest, we will help you. Naturally at their expense.”

“But [Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor] Khrenin says he could use such a unit as part of the army. I agree. Feel free to talk to them,” the Belarusian leader said.
