MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko confirmed the invitation to President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma to visit Belarus as he received the letters of credence from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Republic of Belarus (with residence in Moscow) Ms. Nomasonto Maria Sibanda-Thusi, BelTA has learned.
The President stressed that Belarus has been effectively developing cooperation with Southern African states, particularly with the Republic of South Africa. According to him, there are a number of promising projects relating to the supply of high-quality Belarusian machinery. The two countries are also exploring other areas of interaction.
According to Alexander Lukashenko, it is vital for Belarus to find new partners in Africa. He expressed confidence that Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sierra Leone to Belarus (on concurrent accreditation) John Sahr Francis Yambasu will promote the development of bilateral cooperation. “We can find common interests in the political, trade and economic sectors, including such promising areas as industry, agriculture, education and medicine,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
Receiving the credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to Belarus (on concurrent accreditation) Kim Hyun Joon, Alexander Lukashenko reaffirmed Belarus’ commitment to develop all-round mutually beneficial relations.
