Lukashenko appoints, retires army officers

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has made several personnel appointments concerning the Armed Forces. The head of state signed the relevant decrees on 28 July, BelTA has learned.

Major-General Vladimir Kupriyanuk was appointed Chief of the Central Intelligence Office, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. His predecessor Major-General Ruslan Kosygin was released from active duty due to his age. He retained the right to wear military uniform and insignia.

To fill in Vladimir Kupriyanuk’s position, Colonel Aleksandr Lavrenov was appointed Chief of Staff, First Deputy Commander of the Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces.

A number of personnel changes took place among the leadership of the Central Military Inspectorate of the Armed Forces. Major-General Andrei Gorbatenko, who has been the Chief of the Minsk Suvorov Military School up till now, was appointed the chief of the inspectorate. The previous chief of the inspectorate was Major-General Ivan Boguslavsky. He was released from active duty due to his age. He retained the right to wear military uniform and insignia.

Colonel Dmitry Kuchuk was appointed Chief of the Minsk Suvorov Military School.
