MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) - Kyrgyzstan has always been and remains a friendly and close country to Belarus, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the international conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of Kyrgyzstan. The event took place on the sidelines of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Bishkek on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

“Kyrgyzstan has always been and remains a friendly and close country to Belarus. As Belarusian leader Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized in his message of greetings on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Kyrgyzstan: our states have achieved a lot in mutual cooperation over the past decades. Interaction between Minsk and Bishkek has become deep and versatile,” Natalya Kochanova said. “We sincerely appreciate and are proud that multifaceted cooperation is actively developing between the parliaments of the two countries. This is evidenced by the recent visit of the parliamentary delegation of Kyrgyzstan to Belarus. I am confident that the agreement signed during the visit will give a new impetus to interstate relations. We see prospects and are resolutely ready to move together towards their implementation.”

The unique experience in improving the national legal system, effective and coordinated work of all generations of Kyrgyz legislators can serve as an example to many, the speaker said. “The high achievements in the political, social, economic and humanitarian development of Kyrgyzstan, strengthening its sovereignty, the growth of authority in the international arena are in many respects the result of the efforts of Jogorku Kenesh,” the speaker of the Council of the Republic emphasized. “The contribution of Kyrgyzstan’s parliamentary corps to strengthening and promoting the positions of parliaments in integration associations is significant. The capital of Kyrgyzstan - the beautiful city of Bishkek - has become one of the centers of attraction of constructive initiatives and adoption of the most important strategic decisions by the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”

“We are grateful to our Kyrgyz friends for the fruitful joint work within the framework of such authoritative international organizations as the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, whose regular meeting Bishkek is hosting these days,” Natalya Kochanova added.
