MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – The CIS parliamentarism has deep roots and a long history, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said at the international conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament) of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The event is taking place on the sidelines of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly meeting in Bishkek, BelTA reports.

“It is a great honor for the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Belarus to take part in the international conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and to share with you the joy of this event. Let me cordially congratulate you, Nurlanbek Turgunbekovich [Speaker of Kyrgyzstan’s Parliament Nurlanbek Shakiev], deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh and all Kyrgyz people on such a significant date. This is a great day not only for our Kyrgyz brothers, but also for our large parliamentary family. Such moments make you realize how deep the historical roots of the CIS parliamentarism are, how strong the traditions of democracy in the Eurasian geopolitical space have grown, and how close our countries and peoples are in spirit,” Natalya Kochanova said.

It was inherited from the times when the Kyrgyz, Belarusians and all Soviet peoples lived in one big country, which they revered as their Motherland, shared good and bad moments with each other like brothers, and made plans for the future together, she emphasized. “We have managed to preserve and enhance this heritage thanks to the leaders of our states and friendly relations between them,” she remarked.

“The fundamental approaches of our countries remain unchanged. At the center of everything - public administration, politics and public activity - is a person and their interests. Justice, a conscientious and responsible attitude to work, selfless service to one’s people and one’s country is a sign of quality, one might say, a signature feature of the CIS member states,” added Natalya Kochanova.
