Kochanova: Belarus-Mexico cooperation has great prospects

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) - Cooperation between Belarus and Mexico has great prospects, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Russian Federation and concurrently to the Republic of Belarus Eduardo Villegas Mejias in Minsk on 15 June, BelTA has learned.

"First of all, I would like to congratulate you on the official assumption of the duties of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Belarus and wish you all the best in the implementation of the plans that you and your government have outlined in terms of cooperation between our countries. Last year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Mexico. The results of our friendly relations are still rather modest though the prospects in our cooperation are great. We very much hope that with your appointment to this position, our cooperation will pick up momentum," Natalya Kochanova said. "We expect that the socially-oriented policy that is being pursued in our countries, our points of contact will contribute to the friendly relations."

Both Belarus and also Mexico pay the most serious attention to people, their needs, the speaker emphasized. "It is important for us to cooperate in absolutely all areas: trade, economy and humanitarian matters. Cooperation between parliamentarians is very important too. In February 2023, we held an online conference of the working group with the Mexico- Belarus friendship group. Inter-parliamentary cooperation is especially relevant in the current situation," Natalya Kochanova added.
