Kochanova: Belarus, Cuba maintain an active political dialogue

MINSK, 19 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba maintain an active political dialogue at the high and highest levels,  Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba Juan Esteban Lazo Hernandez, BelTA reports.

“Since our last meeting in December 2022, important political events have taken place in your country, i.e. parliamentary and presidential elections. On behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus we would like to once again congratulate the entire Cuban people on the successful conduct of these elections and on your election as president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba,” said Natalya Kochanova.

Belarus and Cuba are long-time and loyal friends, the speaker noted. “Our countries maintain an active political dialogue at the high and highest levels. All this is due to good relations between the leaders of our states,” she emphasized. “We are absolutely on board with you on the majority of issues on the international agenda, including our commitment to building a fair and multipolar world order. We support each other on international platforms and in international organizations,” she remarked.

“Belarus and Cuba are an example to follow in defending national interests and resisting external interference in internal affairs. Our states are subject to pressure from the West, including large-scale illegal sanctions, for their independent policies,” Natalya Kochanova added.
