MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – The president of Equatorial Guinea has confirmed the invitation for Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to visit Equatorial Guinea. The president of the African country stressed that Equatorial Guinea is looking forward to and is seriously preparing for the visit of the Belarusian head of state, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

This is why close attention was paid to fleshing out the agenda of the forthcoming top-level negotiations as a Belarusian delegation led by Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik visited Equatorial Guinea.

On 15 November Sergei Aleinik led the Belarusian delegation consisting of Agriculture and Food Minister Sergei Bartosh, Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich, and Deputy Chairwoman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Tatiana Stolyarova to a meeting with President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. As a result of the Belarusian delegation’s work in Malabo the parties talked over prospects of cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, healthcare, education, science, technologies, manufacturing, civil engineering, and other areas.

Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo drew attention to the rather topical matter of food security. He noted that Africa particularly badly needs Belarus’ experience in this matter.

Close attention was paid to the realization of manufacturing cooperation projects in the sphere of fish processing and creation of agrarian complexes in Equatorial Guinea according to Belarusian designs. Deliveries of Belarusian agricultural machines, municipal vehicles, and construction machines and vehicles to satisfy needs of the Equatorial Guinea economy were mentioned.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs also met with First Vice President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mangue. The parties discussed topical matters of bilateral cooperation and individual manufacturing cooperation projects. Close attention was paid to reconciling the agenda of the upcoming visit of the first vice president of Equatorial Guinea to Belarus.

After the meetings Sergei Aleinik talked to reporters. He remarked that the delegation had very pleasant impressions of the visit and of the reception the delegation had been given.

“Our intergovernmental delegation is here in furtherance of agreements reached during the visit of the president of Equatorial Guinea to the Republic of Belarus in September 2023. We are working out a bilateral cooperation program. It is kind a roadmap meant to guide our interaction in many areas,” Sergei Aleinik said. “Among priority cooperation areas we’ve discussed matters relating to the development of cooperation in agriculture, food security, manufacturing cooperation, healthcare, science, technologies, civil engineering, education, and culture. Concrete projects and avenues of cooperation were identified. We expect they will soon be approved by our heads of state.”
