MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expresses cautious optimism about Belarus’ economic growth, Deputy Director of the IMF European Department Athanasios Arvanitis noted at the KEF 2017 conference Foundations for the Future, BelTA has learned.
“The global economic growth is projected at 3.5%. It is expected to continue. This is probably the fastest recovery since 2011. This goes for every European country. Belarus has been growing, too. After two years of recession, a growth of nearly 2% is good news. We express cautious optimism,” Athanasios Arvanitis said.
He highlighted that every government should take advantage of the improving situation in the global economy to speed up the necessary economic reforms. “We should strike while the iron is hot. This is about Belarus, too,” Athanasios Arvanitis underlined.
