GRODNO, 10 October (BelTA) – The Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was hosting scientists from Zimbabwe for a week. Representatives of Harare Polytechnic College familiarized themselves with the activities of the Biology and Ecology Faculty, Faculty Dean Natalya Bashun told BelTA.
Btech Chairman Soloman Manyere and Btech lecturer Damascus Masawi took part in the international conference “Current Environmental Issues 2023” that brought together scientists and experts from six countries. Damascus Masawi delivered a plenary report at the conference.
The Biology and Ecology Faculty hosted a round-table meeting between the university staff and the delegates from the Republic of Zimbabwe. The delegates studied the main areas of educational and scientific work of the faculty and told their Belarusian counterparts about the work of Harare Polytechnic College. The meeting participants outlined areas of mutual interest in science, innovations and education, as well as environmental monitoring.
The scientists explored possibilities of further cooperation with the Biochemistry Department and had a tour of the research laboratories of biophysics and biologically active substances. Agreements were sealed at a meeting with First Deputy Rector of Grodno State University Aleksandr Karevsky and Head of the Research Center Anton Glazev.
The delegation of Zimbabwe toured Grodno Recycling and Mechanical Waste Separation Plant, where they studied the waste sorting process, the use of secondary resources, and the enterprise’s capabilities to make new types of products from recycled materials.
