FM: Belarus will uphold international efforts to find compromise solutions

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus will support international initiatives aimed at finding compromise solutions, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Chairman of the National Commission for UNESCO Sergei Aleinik said at an event to mark the 20th anniversary of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, BelTA reports.

The UNESCO Executive Board has recently proclaimed 17 October as the International Day of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Belarus co-sponsored this decision. The foreign minister assured that the republic will continue to support any initiatives at UNESCO that promote constructive dialogue and help overcome dividing lines between countries and peoples.

“Initiatives that seek to promote a unifying agenda, find compromise, mutually acceptable solutions that are aimed at peace, creation and development are important for us,” emphasized Sergei Aleinik.
