RIGA, 20 May (BelTA) – Belarus’ proposals will be included into the final declaration of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) summit in Riga, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Latvia Andrejs Pildegovics told media in Riga on 19 May, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus has voiced a range of proposals that will be included into the final declaration of the EaP summit,” Andrejs Pildegovics said.
In his words, in the past few months of Latvia’s EU Presidency the progress has been made in finding the areas of cooperation where the positions and interests of Belarus and EU are similar. “We have reached the point when we understand the interests and wishes of the government. On its part, the EU may respond and take steps forward,” Andrejs Pildegovics said. He also stressed the importance of Belarus’ joining the Bologna Process. “A three-year adaptation period is ahead,” he said.
