SOCHI, 11 October (BelTA) - Dushanbe will host the next session of the CIS Heads of State Council at the end of September 2018, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters after the session of the CIS Heads of State Council in Sochi on 11 October, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Lebedev explained that in 2018 Tajikistan will take the presidency in the CIS. It means that the session of the CIS Heads of State Council will take place on the territory of this country.
“The president of Tajikistan suggested holding the session in Dushanbe at the end of September 2018,” he said.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, in turn, expressed readiness to take the presidency in the CIS in 2019 and 2020 respectively. The president of Moldova also spoke about the readiness to take the presidency in 2020. “The heads of the delegations decided that that Uzbekistan and Moldova will discuss it later. There is still enough time,” the CIS executive secretary said.
