MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) - The delegation of the International Secretariat of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will visit Belarus on 2-5 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
A Belarusian parliamentary delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Boleslav Pirshtuk participated in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Bureau meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark. Boleslav Pirshtuk briefed the bureau members on the status of preparations for the 26th OSCE PA summer session due in Minsk on 5-9 July. He recalled that OSCE PA President Christine Muttonen and Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko signed an agreement to hold the session on 15 March.
Currently, the organizing committee headed by Vladimir Andreichenko, in close contact with the OSCE PA International Secretariat, is gradually solving the practical issues related to the preparation of this important international forum. The results of the preparatory phase will be reviewed during the visit of a delegation of the OSCE PA International Secretariat to Minsk on 2-5 May, Boleslav Pirshtuk said.
Belarus’ parliamentary delegation took part in the discussion of the draft reports and resolutions presented by the rapporteurs of the general committees on political affairs and security, economic affairs, science, technology and environment, democracy, human rights and humanitarian questions.
In addition, the Bureau of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly reviewed the reports on the ongoing activities and plans of the inter-parliamentary organization.
The OSCE PA summer session fwill focus on the ways of strengthening mutual trust and cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region. The forum is expected to gather approximately 700 participants.
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was established in Madrid, Spain in April 1991. It comprises 323 MPs from 57 countries.
