MOSCOW, 9 September (BelTA) – Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha will visit Belarus from 10 to 13 September, BelTA learned from CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov.
The official will meet with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov, and State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas.
“Nikolai Bordyuzha will visit Belarus as part of his tour of the CSTO member states to discuss preparations for the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the joint session of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council, Defense Ministers Council, and Security Council Secretaries Committee to be held in Yerevan on 13 and 14 October 2016. On 6 September, the CSTO Permanent Council discussed and adopted draft agendas for the next session of the Collective Security Council and the joint session of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council, Defense Ministers Council, and Security Council Secretaries Committee,” Vladimir Zainetdinov said.
In Minsk, Nikolai Bordyuzha will also attend the seventh meeting of senior executives of the CSTO, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) that will take place at the office of the CIS Executive Committee on 11 September. The meeting will review the results of the anniversary meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council held in Tashkent in June 2016. Besides, the participants will exchange opinions on matters of security and stability in the region and in the world.
The parties will inform one another on the activities of their organizations, priority integration objectives, and plans for the future. Other items on the agenda include approaches to the planning of joint work of the executive bodies of the SCO, CSTO and CIS and measures to enhance the international image of the organizations.
