CSTO countries to take additional measures to combat cyber threats

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – Collective Security Treaty Organization countries intend to implement additional measures to fight threats in the cyber space. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik made the statement after a joint session of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states in Minsk on 22 November, BelTA has learned.

As a result of the talks the parties approved and signed about 20 documents on politics and defense as well as the counteraction of modern challenges and threats to security.

In particular, the ministers of foreign affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization countries passed a statement on common approaches to ensuring the security of the Eurasian space. Apart from that, the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils signed a joint resolution on a list of the additional measures the CSTO member states will implement to ensure information security of the organization.

“This matter is becoming particularly significant in the context of growing challenges and threats in the virtual space,” Sergei Aleinik said.

The parties also approved draft documents aimed at reinforcing the Collective Security Treaty Organization and at improving the security of its member states. The heads of state are expected to give final approval to these documents at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, which is due in Minsk on 23 November.
