MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) - The concept of Belarusian statehood should be brought to every area of life, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 31 March, BelTA has learned.
The president instructed the Council on Historical Policy to step up its efforts and introduce the concept of the Belarusian statehood to all spheres of life. “It is necessary to develop common approaches to the interpretation of epochal events. Let me be more specific: people need to know who our heroes are, and educate new generations of Belarusians by their examples. Khatyn, Ola, Borki, Brest Fortress and all the places of tragedy and heroism of the Belarusian people, the peoples of the USSR, the nation of winners should become places of pilgrimage and veneration. They should become so for our children in the first place,” the Belarusian leader said.
The head of state added that on 23 September 2023 Belarus will celebrate the 80th anniversary of liberation of the first village of Komarin from Nazi invaders, which will give the start to a series of large-scale events to mark the liberation of Belarus.
