MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – The parliamentary groups of friendship of Belarus and Switzerland have signed a memorandum of understanding, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Switzerland.
The Belarusian delegation led by Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko is in Switzerland on an official visit. A meeting was held with co-chairman of the Switzerland-Belarus parliamentary group of friendship, head of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Council of States Filippo Lombardi, head of the President of the Finance Committee of the National Council Margret Kiener Nellen and also MPs of the National Council Andreas Aebi and Hugues Hiltpold. “During the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the parliamentary friendship groups of Belarus and Switzerland,” the embassy said.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko and the Belarusian delegation met with President of the National Council of Switzerland Dominique de Buman.
As BelTA earlier informed, Belarus’ parliamentary delegation is on a visit to Switzerland from 27 February to 1 March. The program envisages a number of bilateral meetings. The parties are discussing the Belarusian-Swiss inter-parliamentary cooperation in the bilateral format and international organizations. The agenda of the meetings is also focused on the aspects related to the strengthening of trade, economic, loan, investment and humanitarian ties, the implementation of projects in agricultural cooperation.
It is the first official visit in the history of the Belarusian-Swiss inter-parliamentary relations.
