MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Russian regional military force has begun carrying out training missions as part of the Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017, BelTA learned from Belarusian First Deputy Defense Minister, Chief of the General Staff, Major-General Oleg Belokonev, who oversees the exercise on behalf of the Belarusian side.
According to the source, command posts have been deployed, the command system is fully operational. Tasks have been clarified and the commanding officers at the command posts are now adjusting previously made decisions.
The most active actions are now in progress near the village of Dretun and in the army exercise areas Lepelsky and Losvido. The troops over there are busy looking for, blocking, and destroying a sabotage and reconnaissance force of illegal armed groups.
