MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei has had a phone conversation with his Polish counterpart Jacek Czaputowicz, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The parties discussed a wide range of matters of bilateral relations, including ways to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and to diversify supplies of energy resources,” the press service noted.
The agenda of the talks also included development prospects for the Eastern Partnership (EaP). “The ministers considered Belarusian and Polish suggestions for further improvement of the EaP and the schedule of upcoming events, including preparations for the EaP summit,” the press service said. Vladimir Makei and Jacek Czaputowicz stressed the importance of the EaP as a pragmatic and results-driven project that goes in line with interests of the EU member states and partner states. Vladimir Makei brought up his proposal to hold a high-level event in Minsk to discuss the development of this initiative post 2020,” the press service stressed.
The parties pointed out the importance of joint efforts in fighting the coronavirus based on the principle of solidarity in responding to common challenges. The ministers commended the countries’ close cooperation in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak: from Polish humanitarian aid to Belarus to direct interaction between the healthcare systems of the two countries. Vladimir Makei and Jacek Czaputowicz also touched upon cooperation between Belarus and the European Union.
