MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) - Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Bulgaria Aleksandr Lukashevich visited the city of Pleven to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony to commemorate the anniversary of the city’s liberation from the Ottoman yoke during the Russo-Turkish war f 1877-1878 on 10 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Bulgaria.
The ceremony was attended by Pleven Mayor Georg Spartanski, Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria Anatoly Makarov, representatives of political parties and the public.
The Belarusian ambassador met with the mayor of the city to discuss the development of regional cooperation, including through twin-town ties, in trade, economy and humanitarian area.
Ambassador Aleksandr Lukashevich also met with Vasil Antonov, the head of the Bulgaria-Belarus Friendship Group at the National Assembly of Bulgaria, to review the development of inter-parliamentary interaction, including cooperation in international parliamentary organizations.
