Belarus, Uruguay to abolish visas for holders of national passports

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Brazil with concurrent accreditation to Uruguay Sergei Lukashevich has presented copies of credentials to First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay Nicolás Albertoni, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the parties agreed that it is necessary to expand political and economic relations between Belarus and Uruguay. They outlined key areas for promoting trade and economic cooperation and expanding the legal framework.

“In the near future, the two countries plan to sign an agreement on the mutual abolition of visas for holders of national passports,” the press service informed.

Belarus and Uruguay are long-time partners. In 2022, the two countries marked the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. Over these three decades, Belarus has been building a constructive dialogue with the Uruguayan side, the core of which is trade and economy. Since 2013, Belarus has had its honorary consul in Uruguay, ethnic Belarusian Sebastián Asis Andrzejuk.
