Belarus’ UN Ambassador: Belarus is open to returning to normal relations with all countries

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) - Belarus is open to returning to normal relations with all countries and in all areas, but not in exchange for national interests and values, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Valentin Rybakov said at a meeting of the UN Security Council, BelTA has learned.

"Belarus has never been the initiator of restricting cooperation with the United States and the European Union. In violation of all norms of international law, Belarus has been slapped with political, trade, financial and other sanctions which limit the development opportunities of ordinary people. Despite the unprecedented external pressure, Belarus is open to returning to normal relations with all countries and in all areas, but not in exchange for our national interests and values," the diplomat said. 

Valentin Rybakov stated that the world is undergoing a political, social and economic transformation -  transition to a multipolar world order.

"It is not easy to part with the self-appropriated privileges and accept the existing realities. In the struggle for the preservation of the unipolar world order and the monopoly on its structure, they are using the entire arsenal of political, economic and force tools - sanctions, incitement of political, social, ethnic, religious, linguistic and cultural hatred, deliberate destabilization of the security situation in entire regions," Valentin Rybakov said.

He noted that unilateral coercive measures against more than three dozen sovereign states, applied in violation of all norms of international law, negatively affect the quality of life of more than a third of humanity. "Sanctions are a modern form of neocolonialism. Sanctions have actually become a go-to tool for Washington and its satellites to put pressure on disagreeable countries that have their own opinions," the diplomat said.
