MINSK, 5 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian delegation to the 199th session of UNESCO Executive Board in Paris will organize a meeting of the Group of Friends United Against Human Trafficking, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Group of Friends United Against Human Trafficking is an informal voluntary association which seeks to reinvigorate and consolidate the global fight against trafficking in persons. Its members are Bangladesh, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Venezuela, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Nigeria, Nicaragua, United Arab Emirates, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Philippines, and Ecuador.
Besides, during the session the Belarusian delegation led by Acting Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO Vadim Pisarevich will take part in plenary meetings and the annual meeting of representatives of National Commissions for UNESCO.
There are more than 30 items on the agenda for the session, including issues related to the implementation of the previously adopted decisions, promotion of global initiatives and programs, and cooperation with UNESCO’s NGO partners. “The 199th session of UNESCO Executive Board will pay special attention to the protection of cultural heritage, including in the event of an armed conflict, and the promotion of cultural pluralism,” the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The 199th session of the UNESCO Executive Board will run till 15 April.
